Website usage, comments & cookies

This website can be used without cookies. Please adjust your browser settings so as to block all cookies when accessing this website.

By way of default, some basic information is transmitted and stored when you access this website. This basic information may include information on the software being used, but also additional information such as your IP address, your browser, and the referencing website. This information is stored temporarily and used for assessing operability and accessibility of my website. I do not (and have not instructed others to) use this information for user analysis or purposes unrelated to the functioning and operation of the website. Please adjust your device settings so as to minimize the information transmitted when visiting my website. I strive to maintain my website such that it remains operative for visitors that adjust their device setting accordingly.

I discourage, and try to actively prevent, the possibility to leave comments on this website. If you nevertheless leave a comment on this website you may opt-in to saving your name, email address and website in cookies. These are for your convenience so that you do not have to fill in your details again when you leave another comment. These cookies will last for one year.

If you visit the login page, a temporary cookie will be set to determine if your browser accepts cookies. This cookie is discarded when you close your browser.

When you log in (which is discouraged and which I try to prevent for any “normal”, non-admin visitors), cookies are set to save your login information and your screen display choices. Login cookies last for two days, and screen options cookies last for a year. If you select “Remember Me”, your login will persist for two weeks. If you log out of your account, the login cookies will be removed.

If you edit or publish an article (which is discouraged and which I try to prevent for any “normal”, non-admin visitors), an additional cookie will be saved in your browser. This cookie indicates the post ID of the article you just edited. It expires after 1 day.

Any information that you provide in the blog section (e.g. in comments) will be publicly available. Abstain from adding any confidential information. I reserve the right to delete comments in part or in their entirety, and try to prevent comments in the blog section.

Embedded content

This website may include embedded content (e.g. videos, images, articles, fonts, etc.). Embedded content behaves in the exact same way as if the source of the embedded content is visited (e.g., a website).

These source from which content is embedded may collect data about you, use cookies, embed additional third-party tracking, and monitor your interaction with that embedded content, including tracking your interaction with the embedded content if you have an account and are logged in to that website.

Voluntary provision of personal information

When you voluntarily provide information to me to request legal services, I maintain the personal information as required under statutory provisions. Data is deleted in accordance with expiry of statutory terms unless you request me to keep the data longer.

Where your data is sent

If I cooperate with external partners on a project, your data will be provided to the external partners (such as foreign counsel). The data will be limited to the data that is required to comply with your request and instructions. Incoming data can also be transmitted to verify the authenticity and relevance of the data, e.g., through an automated spam detection service or by verifying the authenticity of digital certificates or signatures.

Your rights

You have the right to access to your personal data (including information on its origin), the right to request rectification, erasure and restriction of processing (unless the processing is required in view of statutory provisions or an attorney-client relationship), the right to data portability in case the data processing is performed on the basis of a contract or your consent, the right to object to data processing (unless the processing is required for statutory reasons or in view of an attorney-client relationship), and you can withdraw a consent for data processing that you have granted.

Secure communication pathways

Please contact me in case you wish to discuss communication pathways with enhanced data privacy security (MIME, PGP, etc.).
